Onism; the frustration that I am only one body in one place at one time, besets me from time to time. So, everyday, when the Sun wakes me up, I remind myself that life is for living and I am thankful for everything. However, I have a desire to see as many new places, as many different times, and from the perspective of as many people as I can. Because, sonder. Because, I realise that everyone’s life is as vivid and complex as my own. This may sound like a lot, but I’m also more interested in the depth of my travel and food experiences than in the breadth of it. When I go to a new place, whether Makoko or Marrakesh, I like to eat as the locals do because food says a lot about a people. This means that my dream list is bottomless. Here are a few, including those I have done:
Feed giraffes at the Giraffe Manor / Center in Nairobi. Eat crocodile.
- Travel and eat with nomads.
- Milk a cow and / or goat and make fresh yoghurt.
- Catch fish and seafood.
- Grow my own family garden and orchard.
- Find my food for a whole week.
